About Me
Hi, I’m Kai Mcmurtry — a photographer, videographer, and storyteller born and raised in Reno, Nevada, just 30 minutes from Lake Tahoe. I am pursuing a dual major in Journalism and Communication Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno, where I maintain a 3.98 GPA. Growing up in the Tahoe region shaped both my love for the outdoors and my passion for capturing authentic moments in mountain and lifestyle environments.
I specialize in action and lifestyle storytelling, with over three years of experience working with Sony camera systems and the Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Lightroom. I film and photograph ski and snowboard athletes in winter conditions and currently lead media production for Hardway Snowboards, creating launch videos, follow-cam content, and brand stories. I am also the founder of Wavy Days, a mountain-inspired clothing brand, where I design, produce, and market custom fleece beanies. Whether I’m on the mountain or at my desk editing, I am passionate about telling the story of our outdoors and the people who explore it.
